Homemade Sloppy Joes!

Nobody knows who Joe was....

but he sure knows how to make a good sandwich!

I'm doing the July Instagram Photo Challenge
and today's challenge was "sandwich"...

so I made some for dinner.

Here is what you need:
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 lb ground turkey breast or lean ground beef
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • whole wheat hamburger buns

Here is what you do:
  1. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Swirl in oil and add garlic.
  2. Cook stirring occasionally, until soften and lightly browned.
  3. Stir in chili powder, oregano, and mustard. Let cool for 1 minute.
  4. Add meat, stir to break apart, and cook until done.
  5. Stir in BBQ sauce and cook until slightly thickened.
  6. Eat!
Not only does it taste way better than just using the packet of seasoning but also cuts down on sodium.

You can add other things such as: onions, peppers, or whatever else you like.

Enjoy!
